Linux Usage

Course Summary

            This course is designed promote familiarity and productivity of users new to LINUX platforms (Based on Red Hat Enterprise). This is done by teaching usage and customization of the LINUX graphical user environment, and how to use the most common command line tools. Covers terminology, concepts, manual use, popular commands, window system, desktop tools, and file system manipulation including permissions, using both Nautilus and commands.

Audience:

LINUX  system users.

Prerequisite Knowledge:

None, but the more computer familiar the student, the more advanced the level of learning attained. The course is designed to increase the level of productivity of the student from a first time computer user thru wizards from NON-LINUX operating systems.

Terminal Objectives:

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:
            Locate helpful information from the online manual feature.
            Control the login environment and other user level customizations
            Use graphical tools available in Red Hat LINUX.
            Create and control shell processes.
            Execute essential shell commands.
