GUI with Perl

Course Summary

This class discusses the primary GUI extensions to Perl. These extensions allow you to write user interfaces with buttons, text entry boxes, etc. Subjects include:
The Tk extension:
Interfacing with X-windows and Windows using the Tk language (a high-level language).

Audience:

Programmers wanting to write graphical user interface driven programs in Perl.

Prerequisite Knowledge:

The student should have taken the Introduction to Perl Programming, or have equivalent Perl programming experience.

Terminal Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to write perl programs that use the pTk extensions.

2 Days with extensive lab exercises

 Overview of Accessing X based GUI tools from Perl
 The pTk language
 The Sx language (fairly obsolete, only discussed if requested for specific legacy applications)
