JavaScript

Course Summary

JavaScript allows for writing of HTML documents that contain code which can make these pages dynamic. JavaScript Client side programs differ from CGI scripting in that the programs run in the browser, not the server. This course covers all you need to know to start writing HTML pages with embedded JavaScript Code. The course covers the syntax of the JavaScript language, Program structure, and all the details about JavaScript Objects needed to write medium complexity scripts. Issues related to the various versions available are addressed, and will be updated as the language matures.

Audience:

Anyone wanting to know more about the JavaScript language, and programming JavaScript web pages.

Prerequisite Knowledge:

Familiarity with HTML, and web browsers is necessary (Surfing experience very helpful). The course does not cover HTML itself, but, for those without that knowledge, briefly introduces the necessary components like forms and frames.

Terminal Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to: design, write, debug and test JavaScript code embedded in HTML pages (Client side JavaScript), and be aware of the extended ability of server side JavaScript.

Course Length:

2 Days depending on lab exercise level desired.
